First Light: Jesus and the Kingdom of God

A DVD-based exploration of the life and teachings of the historical Jesus. New participants welcome.

Winter movies:
• February 5: Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian starring Ben Stiller and Amy Adams. Famous figures from history come to life at night in the Smithsonian Museum with comic rivalries developing.
• February 19: The Time Traveler's Wife starring Eric Bara and Rachel McAdams. Suffering from a rare genetic disorder a Chicago librarian is sent hurtling through time when he is faced with extreme duress. He does manage to fall in love and marry, and the endurance of his wife as she meets him at different ages of his life leads to the title of this movie.
• March 5: National Treasure: Book of Secrets starring Nicolas Cage and Justin Berka. Treasure Hunter Benjamin Franklin Gates, strives to solve the mystery of Abraham Lincoln's assassination through the missing pages of John Wilkes Booth's diary.
• March 19: The Proposal starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. Faced with the prospect of deportation to Canada, a pushy boss spontaneously announces her engagement to her assistant in order to retain her visa to work in the US.

Annual Pancake Supper
Tuesday, February 16, Wesley-Knox Social Hall, 4-7 p.m.
All-you-can-eat pancakes, ham, beverage and dessert! Adults $6, Kids 10 and under $3, Family maximum $15. Proceeds support the Wesley-Knox Men's Club Community Breakfast program.

Karen Schuessler Singers Concert
Saturday, March 27, 8 p.m.
Love is in the Air (Shakespeare and Sheering) with band and the After Four jazz quartet. Adults $18, seniors $15 in advance at Tuckey Home Hardware, Belle Air Music (all locations) and Chapters North. Students $10.

Saturday, May 29, 8 p.m.
River: a Tribute to the Thames. With multimedia and the premiere of a specially commissioned new choral work by London area composer Jeff Smallman. Ticket prices and sales outlets as above.
