On January 15, our Wesley-Knox Sunday school will be visiting Kim Stark and the Sitting Tree School to take part in a nature program at Westminster Ponds, one of London's largest environmentally significant areas. Join us for a morning of hiking, exploring, and activities, and then finish the morning with a Japanese tea ceremony. All are welcome to join in on this adventure.
When: January 15, 10 am — 12 noon
Where: The Sitting Tree School (see map link below) behind Parkwood Hospital.
Dress: All participants--adults too--must dress for the weather! Wear splash/snow pants, boots, hats and mitts. We will go out in any and all weather conditions!
Cost: 12 and under $5, all others participants are free (Kim has lots of experience and assures that all will enjoy and benefit from the program even though most of the program and followup activities will be designed with a 12-and-under age group in mind.)

Weekly Worship Service: 10:30 am

Wesley-Knox United Church is located in Wortley Village, in the heart of Old South London. Wesley-Knox has a proud history. It is a uniting as well as a United church. Founded in 1874, the present building was erected in 1881 and enlarged in 1908. At that time, it was known as Askin Street Methodist Church. With church union in 1925, it was renamed Wesley United Church. In 1972, it amalgamated with Knox United Church, and in 2006, with Centennial United Church.

Wesley-Knox church

Open doors, open hearts, open minds...

We try to be a welcoming, caring church. About one half of our church family comes from the immediate neighbourhood, the rest from all over London. We are not a church that has all the answers. Some of us are settled in our faith, others are seekers. But wherever we are on our faith journeys, we try to be respectful of one another as we come together to proclaim and celebrate the love of God through worship and through service.

Our Mission: Wesley-Knox United Church is a community of Christians that, through God’s love, welcomes and nurtures everyone.

In the fall of 2006, Wesley-Knox embarked on an exciting visioning exercise. Over several weeks, members were asked to respond to a variety of questions on their connections to and feelings about their church. Everyone was invited to a special day to review responses to the questions and discuss the nature of our church, our goals and our priorities. Out of our discussions came four statements that now guide and our endeavors:

  1. Being an open, welcoming church that embraces diversity.
  2. Being a church with a strong commitment to mission and outreach.
  3. Being an open church where participation is encouraged and made easy.
  4. Being a teaching church that for all ages, feeds the mind and spirit.
Join us for Sunday worship! Service time is 10:30 a.m.
